Recipe ingredients

  • 6 servings of fresh fruit (*)
  • 2/3 cup lime juice
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

(*) You may choose to serve just one kind of fruit or an assortment for this dish. Choose ripe, brightly colored specimens of whatever is in season. A few favorite varieties in Vietnam are bananas, mangoes, melons, and star fruit.

How to make vietnamese fresh fruit salad (trai cay)

  • Cut fruit into bite-sized pieces and place in a large bowl.
  • Place lime juice in a medium-sized bowl and gradually stir in honey. The mixture should be smooth and creamy. Add sesame oil, cinnamon, and salt, and stir well.
  • Pour dressing over fruit and mix gently. Place in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
  • Serve in individual bowls.
