Lebanese pizza (lahma bi ajeen) recipe



Recipe for lebanese pizza (lahma bi ajeen) in our easy ethnic recipes collection. This dish has many variations, and many names, throughout the Middle East, but it's always a favorite.

Recipe ingredients

  • 2 packages pizza dough mix, enough to make 2, 12 inch, pizzas
  • 1 recipe meat filling (*)
  • 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup olive oil

(*) For an easy vegetarian pizza, top with hummus, chopped tomatoes, and sliced olives. Or experiment with other ingredients to find your favorites.

How to make lebanese pizza (lahma bi ajeen)

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
  • Prepare one package pizza dough mix according to directions on package. Divide dough into four pieces. On a floured surface, shape each piece into a ball and flatten. With a rolling pin, roll out each ball into a round about 4 inches in diameter. Repeat with second package of pizza dough. Place rounds on greased cookie sheets.
  • In a medium bowl, mix prepared meat filling with vinegar and lemon juice.
  • Spread filling over rounds of dough, leaving a narrow margin at the edge.
  • Lightly brush olive oil over the top of each pizza, coating both the filling and the uncovered edges of the dough.
  • Bake pizzas for 15 minutes, or until edges of dough are golden brown. Serve warm.

Preparation time: 45 to 55 minutes
Baking time: 15 minutes
Makes 8 pizzas
