Lebanese bulgur salad (tabbouleh) recipe



Recipe for lebanese bulgur salad (tabbouleh) in our easy ethnic recipes collection. Bulgur is one of the most popular foods in Lebanon. This refreshing, flavorful salad is very typical of lebanese cuisine.

Recipe ingredients

  • 2 cups bulgur
  • 1 onion, peeled and finely chopped
  • 4 large tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 bunches scallions, finely chopped, about 1 cup
  • 2 small cucumbers, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • Juice of 2 lemons, about 6 tablespoons
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 6 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh mint, or 1 tablespoon dried mint

How to make lebanese bulgur salad (tabbouleh)

  • Place bulgur in a colander and rinse under cold running water. Press bulgur between your hands to remove excess water. Return bulgur to the colander and let it drain over a bowl for 1 hour. Discard the drained water.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine bulgur with all remaining ingredients.
  • Place mixture in a large serving bowl. Chill before serving.

Preparation time: 1 1/4 hours

Serves 6 to 8
